working for him. Tony

shop, on the golf course, or fishing with the
family. Let's go fishing! |

Fred Helmer

Fred has owned and operated Fred's Custom Tackle
since 1978. With the excellent staff at the
tackle shop Fred is able to concentrate and
spend much of his time on the water providing
guests from around the world a guided fishing
trip second to none! His committed involvement
with conservation, tagging programs, and
leadership roles in a number of societies keep
him very busy but are necessary to ensure good
management of our precious fisheries. Although
Fred has sold his shares in Fred's Fishing

Danny grew up living in Chilliwack, BC, and has
been fishing the Fraser River and its
tributaries for over 40 years and guiding for
over 25 years with the BC Sport Fishing Group
team!
There are not many fishing spots in the Fraser
Valley that Dan does not know or has not
experienced first hand. He is always looking for
the next "HOT SPOT!" Dan's other hobbies include
hockey, swimming, golfing, and hiking, although
most of his hikes are around water, checking out
new fishing locations. Dan's good humor and

Anthony "Merr" Sprangers
|
Merr,
grew up in Cloverdale and now living in
Chilliwack, has been fishing since he was a
little kid. He remembers fishing with Tony and
his Dad as a beginning of his fishing career.
Merr describes himself as optimistic and patient
and always ready to fish even under hard
conditions.
Merr has years of experience fishing the rivers
of the Fraser Valley, as well as the local and
interior lakes. He joined the BC Sport Fishing
Group right in the beginning when Tony formed
the company in 1996.
The
fact that Merr enjoys helping you catch fish as
much as he enjoys catching them himself has
helped him become an exceptional guide. Merr
loves to see the excitement of the people on his
boat when they are catching a fish. He aims to
please and isn't satisfied until his clients are
busy battling fish (preferably large ones that
won't fit in the boat). We are sure that
with Merr as your guide, you will experience a
great day on the water! |

Erik Skaaning
|
Erik

to fish while spending a lot of his free time
with his father on the rivers and the lakes in
the valley. In 1995 Erik began guiding as fly
fisherman for steelhead on some of the most well
known rivers in northern BC. Erik joined the BC
Sport Fishing Group team in 2002 to guide on our
local waters, offering guests from around the

knowledge on the Upper Pitt and Lillooet Rivers.
Weather you want to learn how to catch
Steelhead, Salmon or Trout on the fly, he is up
to the Challenge!! Erik prides himself on his
boat handling abilities and with his new custom
jets led he is able to take his guests further
into these wilderness settings, so they can
really have a British Columbia experience within
a short drive of Vancouver.
When not fishing, you will find Erik bow hunting
around the province, or spending time with his
wife Kelly, and his twins Sage and Emma. We are
proud to have Erik as one of our premier angling
guides! Let Erik show you why he is among the
elite fly guides in the Fraser Valley. |

minutes from the famed fishing grounds of the
Harrison and Fraser River systems where they can
often be found walking their daughter Cassandra
and throwing sticks for Netty their golden
retriever. Jordi's guiding accolades include 3
seasons with West Coast Resorts 'Redfern River
Lodge' nestled in the heart of Tweedsmuir
Provincial Park, specializing in whitewater
drift trips. In addition to this Jordi has
guided at the prestigious five-star 'Kau Tapen
Lodge' on the Rio Grande River in Tierra del

minutes from the river. He started fishing at a
very young age with his father. He became hooked
and has been fishing every chance he can get
ever since!
Mike has already been guiding for the BC Sport

continue until a ripe old age!

Shane Marshall
|
Shane was born and raised in the Lower Mainland
and today lives in Chilliwack with his family,
his wife Colleen and his two sons Christopher
and Colton. He
started fishing when he was about 6 years old.
Soon he realized that fishing and spending time
outdoors is what he likes most so it was only
fitting to become a fishing guide to be able to
do what he loves daily and be able to share it
with others. Shane had been fishing in the
Fraser Valley, Queen Charlotte Islands, the West
Coast as well as in Ontario, Quebec and the USA.
Shan has a lot of experience in fishing for
Sturgeon, Salmon and Steelhead. He is thrilled
about every fish caught and tagged. Every day
out on the River is exciting for Shane and he
enjoys spending his days sharing the experience
with clients.
Shane is in his 5th year with the BC Sport
Fishing Group team and he never stops developing
his fishing skills!
Spending time with Shane and his enthusiastic
nature, love of sport fishing, and eagerness to
get others into fish are sure to provide you
with an enjoyable day out! |

|
Paul is a
fish monger. The fishiest of the fishy, he loves
it, he can't get enough. He currently spends his
summers in the Queen Charlotte Islands, and the
rest of the year you will find him behind a desk
at school trying to learn as much as he can
about fish!
He
is currently taking time off from being a full
time fishing guide, to working only weekends for
BCSFG. He wants a career to do with fish, but he
wants to make a difference and hopefully, will
one day end up on the "inside" helping the
Ministry of Environment to properly manage and
allocate fish resources.
Paul's years of experience have helped him to
perfect his "fish dance". This combination of
guttural sounds emitted from the throat and
jerky leg and arm movements are sure to help you
find a fish on the end of your line! |

Tyler Buck
|

fishing tackle industry for 13 years, and has
been guiding for the BC Sport Fishing Group
since 2000.

life and has spent a big part of it sport
fishing. Over the years Frank has learned the
art of fly fishing, spent time bait fishing,
spoon fishing, and has become obsessed with
guiding for our world class great White
Sturgeon. Being a fishing guide is a natural fit
for Frank as he has been showing and teaching
friends and family how to fish for years. Frank

then he has gained even more fishing experience
as a respectable guide. Jeff had been fishing
all his life and never thinks about stopping.
He'd rather earn his living by guiding on a full
time basis.
We describe Jeff as very patient and open
minded. He will be more than happy to take you
out on a fishing trip to show you why he loves
fishing so much and to help you experience an
unforgettable day!
In his spare time, you will find Jeff fishing

grew up in the Lover Mainland and now lives in
Chilliwack. He started fishing in the salt water
when he was about 4 years old. Growing up he
learned more about the different fishing
techniques and started to fish fresh water.
Eric joined our team in 2006. During the summers
he guides in the Queen Charlotte Islands, the
rest of the year he guides for the BC
Sportfishing Group on a part time basis where he
can show off his fly fishing skills. The rest of
the year Eric is a firefighter for the Richmond

Eric loves being out on the water and meeting
new people from all over the world. The more
challenging the water conditions are the more
Eric loves to fish. One of his most memorable
fishing experiences was when he was swimming for
Tony's sturgeon rod in the Fraser. He will never
forget the look on Tony's face. We are
proud to have Eric in our team and are sure that

Wayne comes by his love for fishing naturally.
His love for the outdoors and fishing led him to
the ownership of Cascade Supply and Marine in
Chilliwack, BC. After buying boat after boat
from Cascade and getting to know and trust
Wayne, we offered him the opportunity to guide
for us.
Wayne's relaxed yet confident approach to
guiding make for a fishing experience you will
remember. Keep up the great work Wayne! |

We
know Josh as a very easy going and passionate
fishing guide. He recently became a guide for
the BC Sport Fishing Group which was one of his
goals!
When he was a child, he was taken out to fish
almost every weekend by a family friend. Thanks
to this friend, Josh developed and improved his
fishing skills with every fish hooked. When he
was older and had enough money saved, he bought
himself a boat so he was able to take every
opportunity to fish.
Josh and his family, wife Cara, son Isaac, along
with the newest member of the family a beautiful
daughter and live in Abbotsford. Josh spends as
much time as he can with his family and loves
taking them out to fish or to explore beautiful
British Columbia.
Josh is an exceptional angling guide and will
show you our many fishing spots in the Fraser
Valley. You should not miss the opportunity to
fish with the dedicated Josh Reimer. |

Shane has been fishing since he's been able to
hold a fishing rod. His love
of the great outdoors was instilled in him as a
child as his family went on
many British Columbia adventures. The sport grew
and grew as the
competition grew with his closest friends. As an
adult, this has led to a
addictive passion for angling. The combination
of Shane's outgoing
personality and knowledge of the sport make him
a top notch guide whose
passion is evident in everything he does on the
river. "I am very happy to
belong to an established, professional and well
rounded company like
BCSFG". |

Darrell joined our team in the fall of 2008. He
has been fishing alongside Fred Helmer and
several of our guides for many years, and
finally made the commitment to becoming a guide.
Darrell resides in Abbotsford and works
full-time as a Sales Manager for Kal-Tire. You
can catch him out on the water almost every day
after work and on weekends. If he isn't on the
water, then it's probably Elk and Moose season
and you will find him up North looking to fill
his freezer!
Darrell is a great outdoorsman and fisherman. He
will tell you like it is, and when he's done
doing so (or at least mid-story), you'll
probably find a fish on the end of your line, or
you'll be too busy laughing to notice the bite! |
