Acipenser transmontanus
May 17th, 2010So the Spring is the time of year where the nice weather starts to get the guides out on the water far more frequently. It's also the time of year where they have to "work" just a wee bit harder. By that I don't mean that the fishing isn't awesome-because it definitely is! What I mean by this is that the guides' expendable effort is more so than other times of year- they have to bring more than just one or two varieties of bait, they have to move around a lot more, and they have to get used to being on the water almost everyday of the week again! The easy carefree bounce in their step just isn't quite there as they crawl back into their routines! They remind me of bears coming out of hibernation. They grumble a bit, they aren't quite in a normal state of mind, and they just seem HUNGRY (by this is mean hungry for work)! I imagine it feels like their arms got shorter over the winter as they reach into the freezer to grab their baits, or the hook up on the boat trailer seems like it needs some grease, and the 6 am clock radio wake up just agitates instead of motivates!
But once they get out there and breathe in the fresh spring air, (mosquito free for about 3 more weeks),and see the fish rolling like crazy all over the place like they are performing some kind of crazy "it's spring" dance, they forget all about the cold winter fishing and how hard it was to get out of bed! It's GAME ON! Get out and
Enjoy it with us!!!!

long post
May 9th, 2010So I had just spent the better part of an hour writing a really long blog. But when I hit "publish" it disappeared...
So instead of pondering about fishing trip 'expectations and realities' you get to be jealous of the Norwegians that we just sent home.
TUSEN TAKK for sending these over to us guys!
I'm Baaaccckkkkk!
May 8th, 2010Hello to anyone who reads the blog on regular basis! I am back from a long winter off so there will be lots of updated posts headed this way! Watch for the latest fishing pictures and stories.
It's been a good week so far, the bites are way more solid than they were in the colder months and the weather is set to hit almost 20 degrees this weekend so we will see a whole lot more water headed down the river! It's going to shape up to be an awesome summer as usual and we hope to see you out on the water!
Mother's day is tomorrow and if you are scrambling for something to do try a scenic tour down the Harrison river; it will make her weekend! Call us 604-796-3345.
OR if your mum is super cool then take her out on a fishing trip, she can battle a sturgeon and then take the opportunity to remind you that giving birth to you was way more difficult and obviously not any where near as rewarding! Ha!

Back up an running!
March 25th, 2010Hi everyone, thank you for your patience over this last month. We had some serious technical issues that required some down time! Heres the latest!!
Sturgeon, Steelhead and Trout fishing have all been pretty good. The Steelhead fishing turns on with every bump of rain but overall with the great weather we have been enjoying the Steelhead fishing has been hit and miss,
Trout fishing remains very good on Harrison Lake with Cutthroat trout to 20 inches caught and released in the past several weeks. Sturgeon fishing remains unseasonable good and with the mild winter we have had we are already in full spring conditions with some great fishing to be had on most days.
Here are a few recent shots of some sturgeon and steelhead fishing from this past week. Book now for April and May sturgeon action. 1-877-796-3345

Mild weather = great Sturgeon fishing!
February 15th, 2010There is really not a lot of new news on the current conditions front. We have had several trips this past week and all have been successful. Our largest Sturgeon of the week was 206 cm providing a great experience for our friends from Russia!
Here are a few shots from the past week.

Guided trout fishing on Harrison Lake
February 7th, 2010Erik's son Sage was getting into the olympic spirit, and kicking his butt at cutthroat fishing! What else is new? He had a good teacher! Some great trout fishing right now for the whole family, it really should be experienced by everyone.
Enjoy,
Erik

2010 winter Olympics are only 1 week away!
February 6th, 2010At BC Sport Fishing Group we believe there should be another Olympic Sport! Winter Sturgeon fishing. Here are a few shots taken from November through April!

2010 is shaping up to be another great year!
January 31st, 2010Wow, its the end of January already! Sturgeon, trout, and Steelhead fishing has been good to say the least. We are currently booking winter and spring fishing trips and holidays that include fly fishing for trout, sturgeon fishing and steelhead fishing on the fly or using terminal gear. Get out on the water and enjoy the mild winter weather.
Below are a few shots from one of our Sturgeon trips yesterday. We did not get any large fish but the numbers were good with 12 landed in roughly 5 hours of effort. It is a great time to get the kids out on the water as there a plenty of hard fighting 2 to 5 foot fish around and some bigger ones for the parents as well!
Enjoy!!
