Happy New Year from all of us at BC Sport Fishing Group
January 6th, 2010We would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year, thank you for continuing to follow and support BC Sport Fishing Group in 2009.
back to the fishing opportunities!!
Here we are in the first week of January 2010 and the great fishing continues. I can never remember a better December when it comes to Sturgeon fishing! Steelhead and trout fishing were also good, but the Sturgeon fishing has been out of this world!
The Sturgeon fishing should remain strong as long as the mild weather patterns continue to bless the south coast.
For the next few blogs i will be featuring some great photos from the past couple of years here are a few from the winter months. Enjoy!

Is it really winter!!
December 28th, 2009The weather for the past 2 weeks has been amazing! Sunshine an +2 during the day with a slight freeze at night. Sturgeon fishing remains strong with our boats averaging 4 t 10 Sturgeon per day!! not bad for the end of December.
The annual boxing day derby was a success again with 10 fish being weighed in. The largest was 14 lbs. Congrats to Peter...
The Sturgeon madness continues!!
December 19th, 2009Only 1 week until the big day! Christmas break always sneaks up on us as we live our busy day to day lives. Even though the weather has been all over the map the Sturgeon fishing has remained quite good. Steelhead fishing is just beginning and walk and wade trips are available daily as well. Call 1-877-796-3345 to book a trip. We always offer fishing charters over the Christmas holidays (with the exception of Christmas day) so it is not too late for a last minute holiday booking. Below are a few December 2009 shots to get you interested. Gift Certificates for the special employee or customer are always a popular gift! Seasons greetings to you all!!

Winter offers some Awesome fishing
December 13th, 2009

The temperature may have fallen but the fish are still biting. Winter offers some great fishing opportunities for Trout, Steelhead and Sturgeon fishing.
The Fraser Valley Steelhead offer world class fishing which is no surprise since these challenging fish are renowned fighters. Average weights of 10-12 lb with Steelhead in the 15 to 20 lb range not uncommon. The season starts in mid December and carries through to April. Whether Fly-fishing, bait, drift, float or spin fishing this a great fishing experience that you don't want to miss.
We offer daily walk and wade trips on the Vedder river. If you want to learn how to fly fish for Steelhead or you just want to hone your skills a little, let one of our teaching guides show you some great techniques and fishing locations. We offer both conventional and fly fishing instruction in both single and double handed applications.

Even though the Salmon have finished spawning their carcases provide excellent food for Sturgeon and so the next few months there is still some great sturgeon fishing. As long as the river is flowing and the temperature doesn't get too far below zero the sturgeon will still bite and put up a great fight. (Our boats are heated and covered)

Harrison Eco Tours - Looking to get out and just enjoy the scenery, than January and February are the perfect time for a jet boat ride up the Harrison river. Many of the the Bald Eagles that came for the Salmon in November and December hang around for the winter. The river is serene with only the odd boat and it is a great way to see the quiet beauty of nature up close. Call us about our Eagle watching resort package.
Seasons Greetings
All of us at BC Sportfishing Group would like to wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
GETAWAY FROM IT ALL
November 24th, 2009The Scandanavian Tour company comes to visit us every year in November, they know its usually one of the greatest months for fishing!
Today is sadly, their last day! It ends a great 8 days of fishing for the group! We will see everyone again next year !
The fishing is still great! These pictures are from one boat today that has caught 25 fish since 8:30 this morning. That is a great day, an awesome way to go out with a bang!

Here FISHY Fishy fishy...
November 19th, 2009I am not sure how many times guides hear that line, last week it was in Czech "Poj(something not typeable on the keyboard)ryby lovit ryby" maybe this week it is said in Danish "Komme Fiske Fiske Fiske..." The response has been quite well as the fishing has been great! The czech group last week caught many big fish, and 108 fish over 8 days for 4 anglers- very nice considering we had gale-force winds and torrential downpours towards the end of their stay.
We are offering our 4 fish for the price of 3 special for the month of November!
Cutthroat fishing should pick up here once the water level settles down again, sturgeon fishing is still wonderful!
Remember to book in for 2010!
Enjoy the weekend- Ria
Winter Onset
November 8th, 2009Now's the time of year when people start to kick into Hibernation Mode; there are very few boats on the water, some people start talking about how the season is pretty much over for fishing, some people start to eat more candy and chocolate, we start talking about 2010 bookings, and many fall asleep before 8:30 because the days are so short.
Here's a reality check for those that feel this way:
a) we still have boats going out everyday, not as many as usual, but trust me, for the guides that are going out- it's AWESOME.
b) the season's not over, the Chum fishing actually just picked up because of the end of the commercial netting and the coho fishing has been unreal! November is one of our best months for Sturgeon.
c) All that leftover halloween candy and chocolate will make you fat. You might think that the extra ten pounds you put on at Christmas was from Turkey dinner and too much booze, but sorry that weight gain is accumluating NOW (you just don't know it)!
d)2010 bookings shouldn't ust be spoken about right now- be proactive- make them! I will be holidaying this winter (don't you want to speak to me about about your booking?) We already have a couple of weekends for Fall 2010 that are sold out.
e)The daylight savings clock shift actually disrupts your suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN). Recommendation: go to bed at the same time as usual, keep lights on in your home until it is close to bed time, and make sure you wake up at the normal time and expose yourself to light immediately. You'll feel fine and absolutely up for fighting 8 foot Sturgeon after less than a week!
My point is- this winter don't hibernate and forget about fishing- we have many options for the winter months. Right now there is a 4 Fish for the price of 3 special.
If you are coming back for 2010 book now. 2010 is a BIG year for BC- the world is watching!
Have a great Week!

Hi Fred,
Just getting caught up after an amazing fishing adventure with you and Rick.
Thank you for making our day a life time memory. Your expertise, patience and sense of humour made this experience especially enjoyable...the co-operative sturgeon also helped!
I will sing your praises to those who I know will want to arrange for a charter with you and your crew.
Hopefully our paths will cross again.
You are a true professional.
All the best!
Marc
