British Columbia’s Fraser Valley is a sport fisher’s paradise. The beautiful surroundings, endless rivers, streams and lakes along with the prolific wildlife, friendly people and great accommodation options attract anglers from around the globe every year. We are conveniently located in the middle of the valley with several rivers that are very productive and popular due to the tremendous returns of wild salmon, steelhead trout and prehistoric white sturgeon.

Conservation and Best Practices

With a product that is the environment, BC Sportfishing Group is committed to protecting the environment and creating a sustainable fishing industry. Accordingly, we have developed a strategy to focus on sustainability, conservation and environmental awareness. Our company plays a leading role in sturgeon and salmon conservation initiatives and our guides help to educate anglers on the importance of environmental awareness.

BC Sportfishing group is a member of the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society. In addition to tagging more sturgeon than any other guiding company in the Fraser Valley, our company works closely with the Society and its Honorary chairman, Rick Hansen, in conducting ongoing research on the overall health of sturgeon stocks.

Our CEO, Tony Nootebos is a Director of the Fraser Valley Angling Guides Association and a Certified Captain with the International Game Fish Association. Actively involved with environmental sustainability Tony is currently on the Board of the Sturgeon Conservation Society, as well as holds membership with the Fraser River Salmon Table Society. He has been involved with a number of Government roundtables discussing fish stocks and recreational fishing.

Catch & Release

Sturgeon fishing is catch and release. Our guides ensure that all clients are educated in the best practices for handling these incredible animals. When angling for other species, such as salmon, we ask all of our clients to respect and value this special resource and to take home only the amount of fish they expect to eat. When choosing to release these fish, proper catch and release techniques are employed.
