Our Fishing

Welcome to the sport fisher’s paradise! The beautiful surroundings, endless rivers, streams and lakes along with the prolific wildlife, friendly people and great accommodation options attract anglers from around the globe every year. We are conveniently located in the middle of the valley with several rivers that are very productive and popular due to the tremendous returns of wild salmon, steelhead trout, and prehistoric white sturgeon.
There are several very successful fish hatcheries that generate huge returns of hatchery fish to the local rivers as well. The mighty Fraser River is the main artery for millions of migrating salmon that pass through on their way to the spawning grounds. This river is home to the long-lived white sturgeon, the largest freshwater fish in North and South America. These monster fish grow to over 1000 pounds and live nearly 200 years. They are considered to be one of the most spectacular freshwater sports fish, having the reputation for their size, strength and impressive jumps.
The Fraser River provides us with the last healthy wild stocks of this species in the world. A catch and release fishery has been in place since 1994 and with monitoring done by our sport fishing guides in conjunction with the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society tagging study our sturgeon fishing industry remains strong. Steelhead and Trout Fishing

British Columbia offers many wild rivers and streams to enjoy, most of which are home to a large population of cutthroat, rainbow and bull trout. Some of our rivers have returns of wild and hatchery Steelhead offering anglers a chance to sport fish for one of the hardest-fighting, fresh-water sportfish anywhere.

Steelhead

Steelhead

Considered one of the most elusive of all North American game fish, when hooked steelhead put up a battle second to none – but they are worth the effort.

Prime times are December to April.

Cutthroat

Cutthroat

A scrappy fish that shows an incredible ability to shake the hook. Although challenging to land, Cutthroat are very aggressive feeders, allowing anglers a wide variety of choices when it comes to presentation and choice of equipment. Typically 5lbs and better (20-26 inches in length) and often caught with only light spinning, often fly rods with small spinners, spoons, or flies depending on current conditions and time of year.
Prime time is Year Round.

Rainbow

Rainbow

One of the most acrobatic fish they take powerful runs, love to leap and are always up to a good battle. A plentiful fish in this area, they average 12 to 20 inches, depending on the system fished.
Prime Prime times April to October.

Dolly Varden, Bull Trout and Char

Dolly Varden, Bull Trout and Char

Probably the most aggressive fish on the fly, lure or bait. They are available in most of our freshwater rivers and lakes depending on time of year. The Lillooet and Pitt Rivers offer the best opportunity for catching some of these aggressive fish. The Lillooet River has a prime time of September-April, while the Upper Pitt offers great fly fishing for sea run Bull trout from June-August.
Prime Prime times April to October.

Off-Season Fishing

From December 15 to April 30th we offer daily walk and wade tutorials for either gear or fly fishers.

Fly Fishing

Fly Fishing

Fly fishing is a unique and specialized type of angling, that requires different skills. To offer our clients the best fly fishing possible we have recruited some of the top fly fishing guides in the Pacific Northwest. Operating through our subsidiary B.C. Fly Fisher we provide world class fishing on some of the Province’s most incredible rivers.

We provide both single & double hand fly fishing techniques for steelhead, salmon and trout. With extensive knowledge of the local rivers and the fish that live in them we ensure that you will be provided with the best fly fishing experience possible. We have the added expertise in the fact that we live and fish here ourselves.

*We offer fly fishing-only charters on the Upper Pitt River. All other rivers can be fished by either gear or fly fishing methods depending on season. If you have never fished with a fly rod, don’t worry. Our teaching guides will help instruct you to ensure a good time.
